Every AL East's Team's Best Player

By Kyle Sullivan

Baltimore Orioles: Trey Mancini

Mancini hit .291 with 35 home runs, 97 rbi’s, with 175 hits in 154 games last year. He is a really important player for the Orioles rebuild and makes a difference in Baltimore.

Boston Red Sox: Chris Sale

Even though Sale had a down year with a 4.40 era last year. That year was arguably his worst season but he has been an important piece in the Red Sox the last few years and he is the Red Sox X-factor. When Sale is on top of his game he is unstoppable.

New York Yankees: Gerrit Cole

Cole has never pitched in a Yankees uniform yet but he is arguably the best pitcher in baseball tied with Jacob deGrom. Last season Cole had a 2.50 era which was first in the AL and second in the MLB. He led the MLB with 326 strikeouts last year.

Tampa Bay Rays: Austin Meadows/Charlie Morton

The Rays were way too hard to narrow down to the best so it ended in a tie between Austin Meadows and Charlie Morton. Morton finished 3rd in the AL Cy Young award behind Justin Verlander, and Gerrit Cole. He had a 3.05 era and 240 strikeouts. Austin Meadows had a breakout season last year with a .291 batting average with 33 home runs and 89 rbi’s.

Toronto Blue Jays: Hyun-Jin Ryu

Ryu led the MLB with a 2.32 era. Although he has never pitched for the Jays he is going to help out their young rotation as being the veteran on the team. He is going to be a key piece on this young Blue Jays team.
